The final steps

I was wondering how different my life would have been if I had passed Feature Writing and Communication Issues during my 2nd year. I would probably be in army right now, burning all my fats and on towards the cuter, hunkier Jamal. *coughs*

To be honest, I'm glad I was retained for the extra semester. This semester has been one of the most interesting months in my life. I found myself making new decisions and showing more interest in my studies. I also found time to make new friends. Friends I'll remember forever.

Designers: Joy, Pang Pro, Geoff, Melissa

Kudos to all of you for an amazing job. UrbanWire never looked better and it would never have without your dedication and time. Here's wishing Melissa never loses her laptop to any virus and may she have to spend less time on Flash. Also thanks to Pang for the Nines Article upgrade. Shrines should be created for Geoff the Flash Pro and Joy, our wonderful designer.

Promos: Caleb, Lynn

Thanks to Caleb for contacting Wrappamania and getting them a promotion with hype . It was nice chatting with you Lynn, during the Gorky Zero event.

Editors: Michelle, Mary-Ann, Kenneth, Raymond, Lidong

Without all of you, the site might not have had any stories during the school holidays. I would like to thank Michelle for enduring my laziness and constantly reminding me to submit my article on time. Without her, Ways of the Matriarch and Health Food Paradise would never have existed. I would also like to thank Mary-Ann for being my photographer/slave and following me around during the Food Fiesta (which I still owe Michelle) and for an interesting insight into Harry Potter (*stab* *stab*). Without her, Jamal would never have gotten that free bottle of Ya Kun Kaya. :P

Reporters

There're too many of you to mention. But amid the chair hopping, tidbit sharing and the lives lost while trying to learn Flash, I'd like to just highlight a few of you. Nicole, thanks for introducing me to the world of lipstick-pens. Zaki, though we lost you towards the end (damn the Flash!) I'm glad that I found a companion to smoke with on the way to class. Han brought an interesting color to my life, proving that whatever impression you have of someone should be burned and never referred to again. Of course there's crazy Jermaine, who knows less about make-up than me. No, I'm not a metrosexual. When you have to accompany your sister shopping, you tend to pick up this stuff. I can't wait for her to get married, though free comics aren't that bad, but I digress.

Finally, there's Mr. Yee.

I'm ‘proud' to say that I made an attempt at doing better this semester and hopefully can clear all my articles before the deadline. I would like to thank you for the advice given on the staircase near the classroom and the support, giving me another chance at proving myself.

I like this new Jamal. Without the failure, I would have never met the greatest bunch of people. This is the first time I really felt part of UrbanWire . I began this semester eager to prove myself, but I soon found that my old habits were catching up on me. A sudden event also made me question my beliefs. Do I really want to stay in school? A year ago, I would have left and never looked back.

I guess I've changed. I decided to just accept things the way they were and just stop worrying. The thing eventually settled itself. Though that left me slightly demoralised, I still hung around, enough to be rushing my articles and web blogs a few days before deadline. Hehz.

I'll admit to missing the freezing air con, Harry Potter stabbing, sincere talks during cigarette breaks, camera film loading, kaya-grabbing, punching, bitching, lift-sharing, computer carrying, calling, chasing, “Jamal where are you”-ing, last minute Flash-ing and Mentos flying over the computers. Once again, thanks to all of you for making these the best weeks in my whole life in Mass Com. I'll miss you all.
